This type of motor policy will provide an 'all risks' level of protection for policyholder and vehicle*. Each insurer will deliver fully comprehensive car insurance cover with slight variations. For this reason it is sensible practice to shop around and make an informed choice. If your vehicle is valued at over £5,000 then, by law you must have comprehensive cover, thus the majority of motor policies sold in the UK are of this type. Exclusions will vary according to your provider but may include (for example) legal fees, breakdown cover, windscreen damage, and medical fees. The excess can also vary and is agreed between you and your insurer. Fully comprehensive motor insurance will cover everything as in a standard Third Party Insurance (TPFT) policy with the addition of Accidental Damage.
